# Create a new gateway

POST http://localhost:3000/gateway_manager/v1/gateways
Content-Type: application/json

Creates a new gateway within the database.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (basic auth, required) — Basic authentication of the form `Basic <base64(username:password)>`.

This endpoint expects an object.

- `gateway` (object, optional)
  - `cluster_id` (string, required)
  - `enabled` (boolean, required)
  - `readonly` (boolean, required)
  - `groups` (list of string, required) — An array of the names of the groups that will be associated with this gateway. Any group that is associated with this gateway will be able to actions on this gateway per the roles associated with that particular group
  - `description` (string, optional)
  - `certificates` (list of string, optional) — Object Ids for certificates that can be used by this gateway
