# toString (number)

> Reference for the toString (number) workflow task, which converts a number to its string representation.

The `toString (number)` task converts a number into a string.

## Potential use case

If a query into a ticketing database returns a number, you could use this task to convert it to a string and include it as the body of an email notification.

## Properties

| Incoming | Type   | Description                                                                                                                            |
| -------- | ------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `num`    | Number | Required. The number to convert into a string.                                                                                         |
| `radix`  | Number | Optional. An integer between `2` and `36` representing the base in the mathematical numeral system used for the string representation. |

| ------------- | ------ | -------------------------------------- |
| `numToString` | String | A string representation of the number. |

## Example

The input variables `num` and `radix` are shown in Task History, accessible from Jobs in Operations Manager.
